The Liver Cleanse

the liver cleanse

Many people wonder if the liver cleanse is really needed. After all, the liver is basically made up of bile which can be excreted by simple fasting. If you can’t get it to go away by just fasting, or by not eating, there really is no point in detoxifying the liver. The liver produces bile to help digest fat. In theory then, why would you want to detoxify it?

There are many ways that the liver can be cleansed and there are also many reasons why the liver might need to be cleaned out. There is a common misconception about the liver that is not supported by scientific data, but that is another article. For now, let’s assume that the liver cleanse is good for liver health and overall health. To start, you should drink at least eight full glasses of juice each day. There are plenty of fruits that are loaded with antioxidants and they are very tasty and refreshing, like grapefruit or pineapple juice.

One herb that has been used for years is called Angelic Root. Some studies have shown antioxidant properties. It has a high content of fatty acids and seems to help eliminate more LDL cholesterol than other supplements. Some of the health benefits of Angelic Root are: improves circulation, stimulates and aids cell growth, enhances immunity, removes toxins and increases energy. This herb is also useful for the detoxifying of the liver cells and is helpful in the reduction of inflammation.

Licorice root contains glycyrrhizin, a compound that fights liver damage and has anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic properties. Licorice also helps to reduce the amount of fatty liver disease and helps to improve the flow of bile. Licorice also seems to protect the liver cells from oxidation and inflammation. Some research even indicates that licorice reduces cell death caused by alcohol. Licorice might also help to protect the liver from damage from alcohol by inhibiting some of the process that can lead to oxidative stress.

In addition to the herbal treatments I mentioned, there are plenty of foods that may help. You should eat foods that are high in antioxidants like berries, red wine, blueberries, and blackberries, and you should avoid processed meats, deep fried foods, fatty fast foods, dried beans, refined sugars, and other processed foods. Dark leafy green vegetables are a rich source of nutrients and anti-oxidants. Spices such as turmeric, cumin, ginger, cinnamon, and cardamom may also help with the cleanse, as well as hot peppers.

Many fruits and veggies are packed with antioxidants that will support optimal liver health, so eat lots of fruits and vegetables! For the greens, eat plenty of dark leafy greens such as broccoli, spinach, kale, cabbage, and mustard greens. Omega 3 vegetables such as salmon, tuna, halibut, and Deltas can boost your immune system and aid in the cleanse as well.

One of the most popular herbs used in liver cleansing juice is celery. If you drink lemon juice, celery juice works well. If you want to add flavor to your juice, add some apple cider vinegar or grapefruit seed extract.

Herbal teas are another popular option for those who want an all natural option for their cleansing program. There are many different herbal teas out there to choose from. A cup of herbal tea is delicious hot or cold, and they are just as effective at cleaning the liver as the herbal creams and juices. Some of the herbs that work the best are milk thistle, senna, dandelion root, and bilberry. You can find these and other herbs in most health food stores, and sometimes in a local tea shop.
