If you have undergone intestinal surgery, this is another reason why you might feel abdominal pain in the upper right quadrant. Intestinal disease usually damages the lining of the intestines and thus will lead to inflammation, pain, and other symptoms. There are cases where the intestines get damaged by a different disease such as enteritis, gallbladder disease, etc. Treatment for inflammation and damage caused by other diseases will vary from person to person, depending on their individual diagnosis and medical history.

Alcohol abuse may also cause discomfort in the lower left abdomen. Liver inflammation and damage are the most common reasons for abdominal pain. The liver produces bile, which helps break down fats in the body. Too much consumption of alcoholic beverages will lead to bile deficiency, which will result to liver inflammation. If your liver lacks bile, it will not be able to process fat properly, causing abdominal pain and cramping.
